Church of the Transfiguration of Mary of Psara
It’s the island's Cathedral. It is located in the center of Chora towards the port. It’s a three aisled based on columns domed basilica with a gallery but without a nave. It was built before 1770 (Russian priests were running this church). Its dimensions are smaller than the ones of the monumental church of St. Nikolaos. Pilasters and blind arches decorate its walls. The devoutness caused by this church is special. This church is one more building of those that have been destroyed during the Holocaust. However, its repair, with the help of people donations, was completed in 1885.
