Menalo Ski Resort
The Mainalon (Ostrakina) Ski Resort is located in the Peloponnese Region. It started operating back in 1965 with only one lift but since then 3 more lifts have been installed. Today has a total of 4 lifts that give the opportunity to visitors to ski more places of the mountain having a vertical drop of 200m starting from 1850 going down to 1650 meters. The ski resort offers 5.8 km of marked trails with 52% (3 km) of the total trails ideal for beginners, 38% (2.2 km) of the total trails being suitable for intermediate skiers and 10% (0.6 km) for the more advanced and expert of level skiers and snowboarders. It is also equipped with a snowboard and a snowmobile park where you can enjoy a ride on ATVs and Snow-hawks. Its premises include a nice chalet with a restaurant, a bar at an altitude of 1.600 meters, shops for buying or renting equipment, ski school for beginners, snowmobile rental shop and a parking lot. It also has a plastic ski run used when the snow is not enough.
The Mainalon (Ostrakina) Ski Resort is one of the three oldest ski resort in the entire country and very popular due its close proximity to the city of Athens. Situated in the area of Ostrakina in Arcadia County, the ski resort is 162 km from Athens, 120 from Kalamata, 90 km from Sparta and Nafplio and 30 km from Tripoli. Access is easy via the Olympia Odos (Athens-Kalamata) and the provincial road Tripoli – Vytina. A visit can be combined with a tour to the nearby traditional villages of Vytina, Dimitsana, Levidi and Stemnitsa. The Ski Center is run under the Hellenic Alpine Club of Tripoli and operates normally from December to March from 09:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
