Falakro Ski Resort

Falakro ski resort is located in Northern Greece. It was founded in 1980 with the initiatives of the Drama Mountaineering Association, aiming to meet the basic leisure and sports needs of the surrounding area. Over the years it has become very popular and is now one of the most important ski resorts in the country and a key tourist area of the Eastern Macedonia – Thrace region. The resort has a long winter season due to both its geographical location and the high altitude, which is a great advantage.

The ski resort is home to 17km/10.5mi of groomed slopes of different degrees of difficulty for skiing and snowboarding, suitable for all skill levels. The slopes are serviced by three ski lifts, one four-seater overhead chair, one two-seater and three baby lifts. Offering 17 km of slopes and terrain, Falakro is among the 3 largest Ski Resorts in Greece. At an elevation of up to 2,232m/7,323ft above sea level, it offers skiers and snowboarders a 582 m vertical drop. The resort has a slope for alpine ski competitions verified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and three chalets, two at the base and one at the peak of the four-seater lift, with a panoramic view at an altitude of 2110m. One of the two chalets at the base of the resort has rooms and can accommodate up to 80 people overnight. There is also a café with a restaurant, canteen, shops where you can buy or rent ski equipment and a ski learning school with experienced instructors. A well-equipped medical center is also available in case of emergency.

The ski resort is located 46 km from Drama and is open from Thursday to Sunday and on all bank holidays. Falakro's Alpine landscape invites you for a winter walk through the mountains, where you enjoy beautiful views in all directions. In good weather conditions, you can see the Nestos River Lake, the Bulgarian border, the plain of Drama, Pangeo Mountain, Athos peninsula, Thassos Island and even as far as Mount Olympus. Apart from skiing and snowboard activities, many people visit the area during summer and other months of the year in order to try other activities like hiking, climbing and mountain biking.
