Milina
Milina is a beautiful coastal village on the Pagasetic Gulf, in the southwest of the Pelion peninsula, approximately 49 km from the city of Volos. During the summer the quiet village is transformed into a cosmopolitan tourist resort, attracting many visitors. Milina has many beautiful beaches with crystal-clear and calm waters ideal for those who are travelling with young children. Milina is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of southern Pelion, a tiny village you will fall in love with.
The beauty of the landscape is complemented by the islet of Alatas located in Valtoudi, the natural port of Milina. The tiny islet that offers peace, isolated beaches and sea caves, can be visited by a private or rented boat. On Alatas stands the Agioi Saranta monastery, date from the Byzantine period. West of Alatas and at a close distance is situated another small islet called Prasouda, where you will find the old Byzantine monastery of Zoodohos Pigi.
Along the beach you can find a great selection of traditional tavernas, serving excellent food, fresh fish and local specialties as well as bars where you can have a drink overlooking the Pagasitic Gulf. The nightlife of Milina is interesting, especially during the summer season when many festivals with traditional Greek music and dances take place. From Milina you can explore the lush mountain of Pelion, the ruins of the ancient city of Olizon situated on the village’s outskirts, on the top of a hill, nice and quiet beaches and picturesque villages.
