Karavostasis Folegandros
Karavostasis is the only port on Folegandros and serves as the gateway to Chora. It is the first village you see when you reach Folegandros and connects the island with Piraeus and the other Cycladic islands. From the port also start various excursions to remote beaches around Folegandros and to Georgitsi Cave. Karavostasis is a quiet fishing village with whitewashed houses built according the traditional Cycladic architecture and some awesome seafood tavernas.
In Karavostasis you find a lovely pebbled beach (Chochlidia) with crystal-clear waters east of the port and several other small beaches towards Livadi. Chochlidia has no amenities, but the tamarisk trees are great for shade. From Karavostasi you may reach Vardia Beach, Latinaki, Vitzenzou, Pountaki and the beach of Livadi, where there is a camping. From Karavostasis the road goes north and south. To the north is the main road of the island that leads towards the capital Chora and the village of Ano Meria. Between the port and the village of Chora there is a regular bus service. The road southwards lead to Livadi and to some splendid beaches with green-blue clear waters. Located on the east coast and just 3 km away from Chora, the island’s harbor has all useful amenities, hotels, rentals, minimarkets, bakeries as well as cafes and taverns around the beach. However, accommodation options are limited and quickly fill up in July and August.
