Batsi

Batsi is a traditional coastal village of Andros. It is situated 27 km from Chora and 8 km from the port of Gavrio. Batsi is a cosmopolitan tourist resort since the 1970s. In the past, the inhabitants were engaged in fishing and shipping, but in the last decades most of them are engaged in tourism.

Built amphitheatrically with a lovely sandy beach, narrow alleys, beautiful houses with courtyards and plenty of running water, Batsi is an excellent holiday destination. The beach has golden sand, is well organized and family friendly, very safe for young kids. On the top of the village stands the church of Agios Filippos. The day of the feast takes place the procession of the icon, followed by many events. The landmark of Batsi is Piso Vrisi, a water spring with crystal-clear water that flows all the way to the port along an idyllic path. The port is probably the most cosmopolitan spot and the place where the heart of the nightlife beats. Traditional tavernas, cafes, restaurants and beautiful bars, all are here.

Thanks to its location, it provides access to some of the most beautiful beaches of the island and to significant attractions. On the way between Gavrio and Batsi lies the Byzantine monastery of Zoodochos Pigi which celebrates on the Friday after Easter. The monastery has a remarkable wooden-carved temple, a rich library with books and manuscripts, a museum with sacred vestments and utensils and a small collection of prehistoric tools. The Archaeological Site of Ipsili is one of the most important fortified settlements of the early Iron Age in the South Aegean and the Archaeological Museum of Paleopolis houses important collections of sculptures, statues, coins and inscriptions, found in excavations at the site of Paleopolis, the island’s ancient capital. Near Batsi, there are several picturesque, traditional villages such as Aprovato, Katakoilos, Remata and Arni. Batsi offers a unique holiday experience all year round.
