This is a 11.3 km circular trail (Xilino Horio - Metaxas Trail - Treis Vryses - Agistro) near Agistro, Central Macedonia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, that it takes an average of 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete. This trail is great for hiking with a few places of interest on the way. The best period of the year to visit this trail, is from March through November. The route starts from Xilino Horio and goes through a beautiful countryside with nice views. Along the way, you will see underground fortifications from World War II, and military structures built by the Greek Army between 1936-1940 to house troops. The buildings were in use by the Greek Army until the early 2000. The route ends at the village of Agistro which is well known for its healing thermal water. In the village, there is a one of the oldest hammam’s in Greece, dating back to 950 AD. In the Byzantine Hamam of Agistros, you can relax after hiking, and enjoy the mysterious atmosphere. Visiting it is a unique experience and the jets of warm water on your shoulders are like a massage. Those who love hiking and history should not miss this trail.
