Kastani beach
Most tourists coming to Kastani beach are paying homage to the scenes filmed here from the movie Mamma Mia. This said, it is an amazing beach with crystal clear water and spectacular scenery. And indeed, Kastani is a lovely beach with fine shingle in a sweet little bay ringed with wooded hills. The water is beautifully clear, as are most of the waters around Skopelos. Easy to get in and out of the water, even though it gets to a decent depth quite quickly. If you are looking for natural shade, you can sit at the far-left end of the beach under the trees.
Kastani beach is not very big though - just a few hundred meters long – but is well organized with all the facilities. It has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas but you have to get there early to have no trouble getting a sun bed. There is a nice beach bar too with a nice garden area and sunbeds around the bar. The bar serves you out on the beach food and drinks. During the day many day trip tourist boats came by and unload a couple of hundred people for a few hours, so what is a fairly empty beach soon turns to a packed one. Kastani beach is easily accessible by boat, car and public transport so no excuses for not visiting this wonderful place.
