Strofades
The lighthouse was built by British engineers hired by the Ioanian State in 1829. It is located on the northwest coast of the Stamfani island which is part of the Strofades cluster. The tower is 11 meters high and its focal plane is 39 meters. A couple of solar panels have been installed at the top of the tower to supply with power the beacon. Next to the tower is the ruined lighthouse keeper’s house. Both are in obsolete state and ready to collapse. After the annexation of the Ionian Islands to Greece, the lighthouse was added to the Greek Lighthouse Network. The only way to get to Stamfani is by boat from Katakolo in the Peloponesse or from Zante.
