Arvanitia beach
This is a small built-up beach made of pebbles and not sand, but there are rock ledges flanking either side of the beach with ladders installed on them which you can go down and swim of. There is not a lot of space and if the beach is crowded it may be hard to put down towels on comfortable spots. Although the beach is small it has a bar and plenty of seating. On first glace may not seem that appealing, but actually is very appealing because it has sunbeds, nice inviting water, a friendly vibe, is close to town and has a nice beach bar. There are even changing cabins and showers.
This is a beach that is located close to the town center. It is beneath the Arvanitia (the oldest castle in town) and Palamidi castle, so you have the benefit of swimming beneath those two towering castles. You can either drive or walk up a road from the town to get there, or you can just walk along the sea from the harbor. There are gates saying that this walking path is closed due to falling rocks, but everyone goes around it and walk anyway. It is a very scenic seaside walk with beautiful views offered by the bay and some great areas for pictures. If you go by car there is a smallish car park just above the beach and a flight of stairs leads directly to the beach promenade. There is also a pleasant walk from this beach to Karathonas beach, about 45 mins away.
The beach itself isn't what gives the 5-star rating but it is the path you can walk around the side of the beach that is just stunning as well as the imposing castles above the beach. Remember to bring water shoes as the beach is pebbly. A visit to Nafplio would not be complete without having the experience of the Arvanitia Promenade and Arvanitia Beach.
