Monastery of Panagia Vrysiani

The Monastery is very close to the settlement of Exambela in Sifnos, south of Apollonia, on the way to Faros and Platys Gialos.

It is the largest monastery on the island and is dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin Mary. According to historical manuscripts, it was built in the 17th century in the place where once a small church of Αgios Savvas was located.

Her monastery has always been male. It is characterized by the cruciform royal temple of its temple and its two-storied bell tower.

The main feature of the Temple is also its wood-carved iconostasis and the icon of the Virgin Mary of Vrysis the Vrefokratoussa.

Apart from its rich architecture, the monastery has a large number of historical icons, manuscripts and other religious relics, most of which are housed in the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art.
