Archaeological Museum of Skyros

Since her history dates back to the ancient times, Skyros has an archaeological museum with great findings. It was established in 1963 and is located in the town of Skyros next to the Brooke square. The museum has two rooms with archaeological findings that were discovered in different parts of the island and date back from the early Helladic (2800-1900 B.C) to the Roman period (1st century B.C). The collection of ceramics that were mainly discovered in the town of Skyros and Palamari is significant. It consists of jewellery such as necklaces and clasps but also of bee breeding tools that date back to 2800 B.C. A special feature of the museum is the room that represents a traditional house with its utensils, decorations and traditional apparels.
