Church of Agia Sofia of Ithaki
The church of Agia Sofia is located in a beautiful location that combines both the mountain and the sea, just 3 km away from Vathi (1.5 km of paved and 1.5 km of dirt road). The breathtaking scenery, combined with the positive energy of the place, make it the absolute destination for people from around the world, who choose it for marriages and baptisms. The church is at least 200 years old, and in its courtyard stands an olive tree with a circumference of 9 meters. It is celebrated on September 17th, and every year, on the day of the celebration, the locals hold a traditional feast, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, with food, drink and singing.
