Bridge at Paterma

The stone arched bridge at Paterma is located in a verdant area with running water, northwest of the village. It was built during the Ottoman period and spans over the Bayum Dere stream. In the past served the communication between Komotini and the mountain villages of Rodopi, Kardamos Sarakini, Drania, Ardia and Organi. Near the bridge are ruins of a Byzantine settlement and of a Byzantine church of the 11th-13th century.
