R1 - Stavros - Kalotaritissa
Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 30 min to complete. This trail is the longest on the island. It starts outside the village of Stavros and heads northeast, climbing uphill on a dirt road along the barren hilly area with magnificent views of the sea and the surrounding area of the island. From a certain point onwards, the route starts to descend with continuous zigzags until Kalotaritissa. When you reach Kalotaritissa, you will find three beautiful beaches with a view of the small island of Skylonissi, and a traditional tavern. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Do not miss it if you are in Donoussa!
