The Ouzo Fest is organized every summer since 2013 on Lesvos Island, by the Lesvos Distillers Association along with the Lesvos Municipality. Lesvos is famous around the world for the production of Greece’s national drink, Ouzo. There are lots of distilleries on the island, making this aniseed flavored and delicious spirit, even an ouzo museum dedicated to the drink. During the three-day festival, visitors get the chance to try more than 40 different labels of ouzo, talk with the producers, taste the local cuisine and discover the secrets of the drink. Restaurants, tavernas and traditional cafes treat visitors to ouzo and a variety of local products, giving them the full ouzo experience. Music and dance events are also held on the island as part of the Ouzo Fest, giving visitors the chance to get a glimpse of local culture. The festival takes place in the island’s capital, Mytilene and then moves to Plomari, the ouzo capital of Lesvos. This is the most important festival organized on Lesvos and whether you are an ouzo lover or a food lover, it is worth a visit.
