Archaeological Museum of Kalymnos

The Archaeological Museum of Kalymnos is located in Pothia and was founded in 2009. It contains two collections: the Prehistoric and the Classical collection. The first includes comprising pottery, figurines and tools from the Neolithic, Minoan and Mycenaean periods while the second includes comprising pottery, inscriptions, figurines and sculptures from the Dalios Apollon sanctuary, hellenistic sculpture as well as masterpieces of bronze sculpture.

Among the most important exhibits, is a bronze sculpture of the Hellenistic period, depicting a woman who has her body covered with a tunic. The statue was emerged from the sea of ​​Kalymnos in 1995, as it was caught into the nets of a local fisherman. There is also a section of significant interest, with exhibits from the the most important religious and political center of ancient Kalymnos, the sanctuary of Delion Apollo.
