By Boat
The easiest way to get to the island of Donoussa is from the port of Piraeus. Ferries to Donoussa are more frequent during the summer – at least 4 crossing per week - and the journey duration is about 7 hours. The port of Donoussa is in the village of Stavros, a small port on the eastern side of the island. The port is 120 nautical miles from Piraeus port and has all the basic amenities. Ferries to Donoussa depart from Gates E6, E7, E8 and E9 of the port of Piraeus, but you would better check it out before you get to the port. If you are travelling during high season, we would recommend to be at the port at least one hour before the ferry departure. Ticket cost depends on seat type, offers and reductions. Most ferries can carry vehicles however, Donoussa is quite a small island with just one main road that starts from the port and ends at the northern part pf the island after 12 km, so carrying a car is not really necessary. For transportation, there is a local minibus that departs from the port and call at all villages before terminating at Kalotaritissa.
If you are travelling by plane, there is no airport on the small island of Donoussa. The closest ones are located in Paros and Naxos and serve daily domestic flights from/to Athens International Airport.
