Garden of the People

The Garden of the People in Corfu is a small park, a verdant place, situated next to the Palace of St. Michael and St. George at the end of the Old City, in Spianada. From one side it looks towards the sea, the Old Fortress and Mandraki which is the port of the fortress and on the other side passes the road for the public parking of the city, in Spianada. It also borders with Boschetto, the other garden of Corfu which is also located on this side and has a playground but, also the Panagia Mandrakina (or Panagia Mandrakiou), the little, red church with the elaborate appearance. The exceptional view of the sea from the Garden of the People and the tranquility and relaxation it offers, make it especially tempting for those who wish to complete their walk there, in the alleyways of the Old City. Its benches are comfortable and hospitable for those who only wish to gaze at the serene sea, under the natural shade of the trees. However, if you wish to enjoy your coffee, refreshment or juice, then in the Garden of the People, in the back side of the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, operates a public coffee shop, with a lovely yard, which is also available for events, such as wedding ceremonies and baptisms.
