Melissourgi Waterfalls (Kefalovryso)

The Kefalovryso waterfall near to Melissourgoi village, is located at an altitude of 900 meters, about 70 kilometers away from Arta. In fact, there are two waterfalls with a vertical drop of more than 150 meters, that create a rare spectacle. The waters of the first waterfall flow from the peak of the mountain and never freeze, on the other hand, the water of the second waterfall is a result of the melting snow, causing it to dry up completely in the summer months. Due to the north winds in the area and the lack of sun during winter, the spot lends itself to ice climbing. The Kefalovryso waterfall is one the region's main highlights even though access is not that easy. To reach it, one should follow the path that leads to the Pramanton Mountain Refuge. The refuge is located at an altitude of 1,260 meters and is open all year round. It is a low-difficulty hike that takes almost an hour to complete but the scenery is fantastic, so it's really worth the effort.
