One of the most impressive and beautiful areas in the Prefecture of Evritania is the Panda Vrechi Gorge, located between the villages of Roska and Doliana at the south of the prefecture. The origin of the name of this unique canyon is due to a specific area, which does not exceed the 80 meters in length. In that area, the frozen waters coming from the steep Kaliakouda Mountain, in their attempt to join with the waters of the Krikeliotis River, find a way out of springs at the tops of the gorge creating beautiful waterfalls.
Due to their high height, the water flow is not continuous and compact. Instead, it breaks down into a large beam in small and large drops, creating a continuous artificial rain. To reach the point of Panda Vrechi you have to hike in the river. During the summer months the water level hardly exceeds the height of an adult's waist, and this only happens in a few places, making hiking relatively easy for all ages.
In the canyon you will see some small waterfalls and fountains pouring into the river foreshadowing the spectacular rain show with the little rainbows at the point of Panda Vrechi. At the base of the waterfalls small natural pools are formed with frozen and crystal-clear waters. The natural pools are ideal for swimming if you brave a swim in a icy waters
