Lepida Waterfalls

The Lepida waterfalls are located in a beautiful mountainous area, approximately 4 km from the village of Agios Ioannis in the prefecture of Arcadia, Peloponnese. They are actually two gorgeous waterfalls, in close proximity to each other. The upper waterfall has a height of about 70 meters and the second one of about 45 meters. The water that feeds them originates on the XiroKampi plateau, higher up the mountain. At the base of the waterfalls, a natural pond is formed with clear and cold water. Swimming in the natural pool is great if you are brave enough to dive into the icy water.

The best time to visit this hidden gem is in spring because in summertime the Lepida waterfall probably runs dry. Despite the fact that there may be no water in summertime, still the place is worth seeing and looks like an oasis in the middle of barren mountains. To reach the waterfalls, drive from Paralio Astros to the little mountain village of Agios Ioannis. In the village go left directly after the café at your right-hand side. A small road leads to a split. Keep right and a little further go right and follow the road to the end. Soon, you will find yourself close to the upper Lepida waterfall. The trail from the parking lot passes through low bushy vegetation, and ends up at the one of the Lepida waterfalls.

Note, that there is second waterfall called Lepida located in East Macedoia, in northern Greece.
