Antipsara

Antipsara is a small uninhabited island in the North Aegean Sea. The island lies about 1.3 nautical miles west of the larger island of Psara and is inaccessible from the north and west. Although according to the 2021 census the island has no permanent inhabitants, there is evidence of the existence of a settlement in ancient Greek and Roman times, while Antipsara was used as naval base during the Turkish occupation. Today, the island is home to hares, wild rabbits and to herds of sheep and goats. Sea turtles, seals and sea gulls find refuge on the rocky shores around the island. Antipsara is surrounded by the rocky islands of Kato Nisi, Mesiako and Skonio.

This little island is well known for its amazing beaches and clean waters. The crystal-clear waters surrounding the island invite visitors to take a refreshing dip or snorkel to discover the vibrant maritime life. During the summer months, there are day trips by boat from Psara to some of these beaches including Psili Ammos, one of the most stunning and secluded beaches in the Aegean Sea. But there are more beaches to discover such as Ai Yiannis, Limnionas, Papa Andreas and Karavi beach. They are all completely isolated, without facilities or other tourist infrastructure. On this island, you will not find any buildings except for a small church dedicated to Agios Ioannis (St. John) and a water tank.

Visit Antipsara to explore the island’s untouched beauty and rugged terrain through hiking trails that reveal breathtaking views at every turn.  Whether you seek solitude amidst nature’s grandeur, peace and tranquility or a completely secluded beach to spend the day and relax, Antipsara promises a unique experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
