The Meteora Trail Run is one of the most spectacular trail running events in Greece, first launched in 2018. Set against the world-famous rock formations of Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the race offers participants a truly unforgettable experience through ancient paths, dense forests, and dramatic cliffside trails.

A Trail Running Experience Like No Other

The routes are carefully designed to showcase the breathtaking natural beauty of Meteora’s unique geological landscape. Runners pass through historic footpaths, forested terrain, and panoramic viewpoints, with the towering rock pillars of Meteora always in sight.

All routes are officially certified by the International Trail Running Association, offering qualification points for major global events such as UTMB, making it a serious race for competitive trail runners as well as an inspiring challenge for enthusiasts.

Race Distances

Participants can choose from three different routes, depending on experience and fitness level:

Meteora Trail Run 22K – A demanding 22 km course with 1,150m elevation gain, ideal for experienced trail runners
Meteora Trail Run 9K – A moderate 9 km route with 380m elevation gain, perfect for recreational runners
Health Run 1K – A short 1 km fun run with minimal elevation, suitable for families and beginners

Start & Finish Location

Both the start and finish lines are located in the central square of Kastraki, a traditional village nestled at the base of the Meteora rocks. Participants are advised to arrive early to collect their race numbers before registration closes.
