Bridge of Giannouli
The Giannouli triple arc bridge is located in the Prefecture of Evros near the village of Giannouli at an altitude of 250 meters. In the past, the bridge connected the mountain paths that led from Sidero, Dadia and Kotronia to the city of Soufli, which was an important trading center of the wider area. The total length of the bridge deck is 32 meters and the width 3 meters. The big arc is 6.70 meters long and the two smaller arcs are 4 meter and 2.10 meter respectively. An interesting feature of the bridge is that its south arc is double, with the upper arc acting as a relief dome. The bridge is approximately 13 kilometers away from Soufli and getting there is a bit challenging. Today it is difficult for visitors to reach the bridge as there is no proper signage and the road is not paved. However, those who will make it, will be fascinated by both the route and the natural beauty of the landscape around the bridge. The dirt track to the bridge starts just before entering the town of Soufli.
