Bridge of Petrolofos

The Petrolofos double arc bridge is located in the mountainous area of N. Evros, 5 km from Petrolofos village, at Pousarits (374 m), and about 68 km from Komotini, 10 km from Mega Derios and 53 km from Soufli.

Built relatively recently, in 1958 by the master craftsman Istanbul Hassan. The width of the deck was 2.80 m.
In the years that followed, there was a further widening of the deck for cars. The total deck expansion is 36 m. In front of the bridge are saved the ruins of a waterfront.
They are believed to form part of the original plan for the construction of the bridge, which was subsequently abandoned.

In the same stream we find another smaller stone bridge, while in Suleiman Dere there is a well-kept watermill, which, in addition to the round millstone, has a mantle for wool processing.
