Right next to Milos, there is a charming volcanic island with colored buildings carved from volcanic stone, sparkling bays and picturesque scenery. A few people may have heard or visited Kimolos Island, but this island has many similar attractions to Milos and is ideal for a quiet and relaxing vacation in the Aegean. Although Kimolos is a fairly popular day-trip from Milos, it largely remains under the radar. As a result, the island has kept its authenticity and a chilled, laid-back vibe. Here, you won’t find tons of beach bars, night clubs and posh restaurants. Instead, you will find peace, friendly people, authentic Greek food and wild, unspoilt landscapes.

Despite its relatively small size, there are plenty of things to see. You will see all the white-washed houses and churches you ever hoped for, a very picturesque main town with winding alleys and houses with blue shutters and flowery gardens, lovely villages, an interesting archaeological museum, the remains of a medieval castle and some photogenic old windmills with great views. Hiking the island’s countryside, you will discover many wild and natural beaches all around the coastline, characterized by crystal-clear and turquoise waters. Do not miss to visit neighboring Polyaigos, an uninhabited little island with untouched nature, volcanic rocks, corals and gorgeous beaches with crystal waters. The development of tourism in Greece, has affected many areas in the country, but definitely Kimolos is not one of these.
