Loutra Ypatis
Loutra Ypatis is located on the foothills of Mount Iti, in a forested area of the Sperchios valley, 18 km from the city of Lamia. It owes its name to the thermal springs that exist in the village since antiquity. The settlement was developed as a spa town at the end of the 19th century, although the springs are known for their therapeutic properties from the 4th century BC. There are many hotels in the village, most of them built in the late 19th and early 20th century when the village flourished. Nowadays many of the old hotels have been abandoned and are ruined.
Next to the hydrotherapy center there is a park, one of the most beautiful in the area. Near the village you can find the historic monastery of Agathonas, the picturesque village of Ypati, Gorgopotamos with the famous bridge and the National Park of Iti with its tall firs and cold waters. The cool and dry climate of the area combined with the lush vegetation and the nice landscape that surrounds the village make the spa town one of the most beautiful in Greece.
Access to the village is via the Athens-Thessaloniki motorway (PATHE) from the Lamia interchange and then via the Lamia-Karpenisi Provincial Road.
