There are ferries (both conventional and highspeed) almost every hour to and from Igoumenitsa on the mainland. The journey with a conventional ferry lasts 75 minutes. Ferries from Igoumenitsa take passengers to Corfu port but also to Lefkimmi port, further south. Corfu port is located in the eastern part of the island, in the north-east area of the city of Corfu. Ferries depart from Neo Limani (New Port), about 1,5 km west of Corfu Old Town.

If you want to take your car, from Athens to Corfu there are two possible driving routes. The first route takes you via the north Peloponnesian motorway to Patra, and then along the new Ionian highway north to Ioannina before turning west to arrive in Igoumenita. The distance from Athens to Corfu is 483 km (300 miles) and the journey takes around 6 hours, assuming you drive straight onto a car ferry without any stops. The longer route takes you through Central Greece to Ioannina and then to Igoumenitsa.
