Vytina

Vytina is a mountain village in the region of Arcadia, Peloponnese. It is located in the middle of chestnut and fir forests on the slopes of Mount Menalo and enjoys a reputation of a renowned tourist resort, attracting lots of visitors all year round. Being merely 2 hours away from Athens, Vytina is an attractive destination for a short escape from the city.

The imposing church of Agios Tryfon in the main square was built in 1846 by local black marble and is one of the most historic buildings in the village. The Town Hall, the Old Primary School and the Library are also interesting buildings that will help you understand local culture and history. Do not miss to visit the Folklore Museum and enjoy a stroll in the so-called “Love Road”. Around the main square, you will find many traditional tavernas and cafes as well as several shops selling traditional products such as honey, herbs, souvenirs and handcrafted wooden items. Vytina is renowned for its excellent fir honey, so do not forget to taste it or to take some with you. 

Vytina is close to the Menalo Ski Center and to other traditional villages. Stemnitsa, Dimitsana, Lagadia and Elati are just a few kilometers away. The village can be the ideal base for exploring Mount Menalo as there are lots of trails leading to old monasteries and other sites of historic interest or just crossing the charming nature of the area. Vytina is very popular, especially during winter and an early booking is a must if you are willing to visit the village that time of the year.
