Uncover the History of the Macedonian Struggle
The Military Museum of Giannitsa was founded in 2011 and is housed on the ground floor of a former military building, on the main pedestrian street of Giannitssa. The museum focuses on the Macedonian Struggle of 1904-1908, the Battle of the Swamp, and the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913. All these events have marked the region and continue to play a predominant role in the town’s historical memory and life. The collection includes a range of memorabilia, photos, weapons, medals, uniforms and various other military items from that period. Visitors can get a glimpse of the conditions and all the battles that took place in the area at that time, leading to the liberation of the city of Giannitsa and Macedonia, Greece. Entrance to the museum is free.
