Μετάφραση Greek Version

Sitting at the end of the main boat dock in Aegina town, this double-domed chapel is dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, Agios Nikolaos. Agios Nikolaos is actually the first thing you see when approaching the port of Aegina by boat. In contrast to the neoclassical character of the town, this little church has more affinity with the Cycladic style. This church is a small basilica with a twin dome and a single belfry, and one of the oldest churches on the island. According to tradition it was built in the 17th century, by craftsmen from Paros, hence the Cycladic style. During the years, it has gone several renovations, each of which slightly altered its original character. The interior rather than having the usual framed icons, has frescoes of the various saints. This striking church is renowned for its beauty and is very popular for weddings and baptisms.
