The Alkazar Park is located next to the banks of Pinios river, under the hill where the castle and the Cathedral of Saint Achilles stand. It is the largest and most important park of Larissa, a true oasis for the people living in the big city. With a history of more than 100 years, this small paradise attracts daily hundreds of visitors who come for walking and relaxation but also for sport activities and family entertainment.
Large pedestrian walkways decorated with fountains, bike lanes, technical lakes, recreation areas and cafes compose the scenery of the park. There is also an open-air theater of 2,500 seats, the famous "Kipotheatto (Garden Theater)", in which many theatrical performances take place during spring and summer. In addittion, the park houses the Monument of the National Resistance, a work of art by the famous sculptor Filolaos Tloupas, who was born in Larissa.
Next to the lush park floats the Pinios river and lie the Holy Temple of Agios Charalambos and the Monument of Hippocrates as well as the legendary Alcazar stadium, home of the local football team.
